our new Exhibition: Drugs?

Ever since the Long Night of Museums, the Hemp Museum has featured a new exhibition tackling a complex subject: drugs.

What actually defines a drug, how do these substances affect us, and why do they cause problems? It is a controversial topic that our visitors ask about constantly—for many, it is impossible to talk about hemp without discussing drugs. Even though hemp fibers have been used in Germany for thousands of years, the plant’s mind-altering properties have only been recognized in Europe for roughly 200 years.

Because of this, the museum primarily focuses on hemp’s most impactful, historical uses. We still believe that the plant’s greatest potential lies far beyond intoxication, in industrial hemp. However, we want to present the full picture, which is why we decided to tackle the uncomfortable “D-word.”
